Programme Note

I composed The Lighthouse for two specific concerts, both in wonderful buildings (St. Paul’s Church in Chiswick and Winchester Cathedral), and tried to write music that would reflect their special acoustics and atmosphere. On one hand it’s a misty seascape with echoes of what might be a half-remembered folksong, and on the other hand it’s about everything that a lighthouse stands for – a beacon, a light in darkness.
